THE EL GREKO STORY
“El Greko” was famous for his genius painting and his love for food. Born on the island of Crete he traveled to his favourite destinations Rome Venice and Spain were he displayed his art and fine food. Everywhere he went people soon discovered the artistic roots that he used to entertain his elite guests and he loved to show his art in painting and greek cuisine. Often he said olive oil is the key to long life. He also believed that a chef with no artistic mind should never be in the kitchen.
Died blissfully in 1614 after he came past Palm Cove and had a meal at the greek taverna which was later named EL GREKO!
Mythology.
Nestled amongst nothing but trees sand, beach and sunshine, in the heart of Palm Cove just north of Cairns, lies El Greko Greek Taverna.
